Who are the Rogue Women?
The Rogue Women of Michigan are a group of women who have come together in the name of getting outside. A camping trip at Wilderness State Park in October, 2020 started it all. Now with over 1,400 Facebook group members, 3 well-attended annual group camping trips, monthly day hikes, and a backpacking trip to be introduced for 2026 - the group has blossomed into something special. Rogue Women of Michigan is open to all female-identifying people over the age of 18 and welcomes newbies and longtime adventurers alike. We promote a supportive community where kindness and inclusion are the expectation.
Where we got our start…
In October of 2020, Marah made an event on Facebook looking for women that wanted to try some cold-weather camping at Wilderness State Park. Eight women joined that trip including admin member, Jane. The women that weekend faced rain, sleet, and snow and found that the power of connection with other bold women somehow made those challenges…fun? Around the campfire that night, the OG Rogue Women each were dubbed with a trail name, and dreams of future adventures were born.
How we’ve grown…
Leadership
Marah is now joined by several other admin members including Jane Bostian (research and planning), Kim Giese (social media and event assistance), and Kelsey Grellinger (hike planner and event assistance).
